Maria Ruxandra Burcescu is a Romanian freelance writer who writes social, political and opinion pieces for the news website Republica and film reviews for the cultural website LiterNet. She was shortlisted for the 2018 European Press Prize, and she won a Superscrieri press fellowship in 2017 to document the phenomena of revenge porn in Romania.
In addition to her work as a journalist, she is actively involved in an NGO that deals with educational and environmental issues.
Burcescu holds a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's degree in advertising.
