Gary Phillips has been a community activist, labor organizer and delivered dog cages. He’s published various novels, comics, short stories and edited several anthologies He was a senior story editor on FX’s Snowfall, about crack and the CIA in 1980s South Central where he grew up.
Gary Phillips mostly writes tales of miscreants on the grift, the grab and the hustle. His latest aside from "Freedom's Fight" includes a short story in "Phoenix Noir" and the webcomic, "Bicycle Cop Dave," patrolling the dark side of gentrification at: http://fourstory.org/fiction/installment/all-right-sylvia/. In addition to writing multiple novels, Phillips was editor of PM Press’ noir imprint Switchblade with Andrea Gibbons, is currently the fiction editor of Fourstory.org, and the author of numerous short stories and graphic novels.
