Those who haven't seen this summer's biggest blockbuster (so far, at least -- this weekend's "Indiana Jones" sequel may well change that) "Iron Man" and are planning to hit the multiplex might want to take a gander at this review. The article points out how "Iron Man" is the latest in a string of "pro-military" movies served up for youngsters' consumption -- even as two disastrous wars rage on overseas.

‘Che’ Goes to Cannes

One of the most hotly anticipated contenders at this year's Cannes Film Festival is "Che," Steven Soderbergh's lengthy biopic of iconic Argentine revolutionary Che Guevara, featuring Benicio del Toro in the title role. However, whether the excitement surrounding the "Che" screening at the French film fest is any indication that moviegoers will flock to the (currently) 4-hour-plus production remains to be seen.

Purpose and Predictability

"Lions for Lambs" is certainly an ambitious movie. It features an ambitious starring lineup, and it plays on ambitious and timely themes: America at war in Iraq and Afghanistan, post-9/11 media complacency and individual responsibility in morally ambiguous situations. Too bad it's just not a very good movie.

Iron Maiden Meets IEDs in ‘Heavy Metal in Baghdad’

Well, this particular motion picture decidedly won't be the feel-good family drama of the year -- and that's just one more excellent reason to go see "Heavy Metal in Baghdad," an inside glimpse into the Baghdad metalhead scene, when it (hopefully) comes to a theater near you.
