VIDEO: Mike Huckabee Kicks Off 2016 Campaign: ‘We Were Promised Hope, but It Was Just Talk’
And then there were six: Former Arkansas governor and Fox News talking head Mike Huckabee brought the official tally of Republican candidates for the 2016 presidential contest to a half-dozen Tuesday, and he blasted his onetime rival for the presidency, Democrat Barack Obama, while he was at it.
“We were promised hope, but it was just talk,” he said, referencing Obama’s 2008 slogan while playing upon the setting of his speech — his (and Bill Clinton’s) hometown of Hope, Ark.
Oh, and Huckabee had some choice words for two of his current contenders as well: Hillary Clinton from the Democratic corner and Jeb Bush from the GOP ranks. “I don’t come from a family dynasty, but a working family. I grew up blue collar, not blue blood,” he said, making a not-at-all-veiled reference to both opponents.
Also making the list of talking points for Huckabee’s big launch were such hot-button topics as abortion, same-sex marriage and the economy. Watch him get animated in the clip below:
