Tina Fey may be comically gifted, but when it came to her newest “Saturday Night Live” impression of Sarah Palin, in which Fey riffs on Palin’s bizarrely discordant endorsement of GOP front-runner Donald Trump, Fey practically just had to show up and mimic the funny business Palin had already done for her.

To wit, here is just one excerpt from Palin’s actual speech, delivered in Iowa last Tuesday:

“Well, and then, funny, ha ha, not funny, but now, what they’re doing is wailing, ‘well, Trump and his, uh, uh, uh, Trumpeters, they’re not conservative enough.’ Oh my goodness gracious.”

The written version doesn’t do the Palin scene justice, so we’ll leave that to Fey. Check out the video below (“SNL” via NBC):
