Veteran journalist and "Meet the Press" moderator Tim Russert died Friday of an apparent heart attack while recording voice-overs for Sunday's show, according to NBC. Russert, 58, was also the network's Washington bureau chief and had grilled politicians and public figures on "Meet the Press" since 1991.
He's certainly not famous for his magnanimity, but this time Rush Limbaugh's sharp tongue seems to have gotten him into a real pickle. The conservative radio talk show host is under fire from congressional Democrats for his recent statement that U.S. troops who oppose the war are "phony soldiers." Limbaugh's ill-conceived rant also caught this active-duty soldier's attention, judging by his blog.
President Bush's criticism of MoveOnorg's "General Betray Us" ad and the "Democrat Party" provoked this barrage of verbiage from MSNBC host Keith Olbermann, who slams Bush for "behaving a little bit more than usual like we'd all interrupted him while he was watching his favorite cartoons on the DVR "

Baghdad's answer to Jon Stewart (Saaed Khalifa, above) skewers both Iraqis and Americans alike in his nightly "Daily Show"-esque broadcast. A recent joke: Iraq's Ministry of Water and Sewage changed its name to the Ministry of Sewage -- because it had given up on the water part.
Former attorney general and amateur singer/songwriter John Ashcroft appeared Wednesday on "The Daily Show" to defend the president's various abuses of power, including torture, which he characterized as stern questioning.
It has often been said that "The Daily Show" is the major source of news for many Americans, but a recent study found the comedy program to be just as informative as nightly news broadcasts. The only difference: While Jon Stewart and Co. dilute the news with humor, the networks fill their broadcasts with hype.
