The Washington Post’s Dana Milbank found many former Hillary Clinton supporters in Pennsylvania who had a hard time switching to Barack Obama — until Sarah Palin joined the Republican ticket. One Gail Silverberg captures the sentiment: “Hockey moms and lipstick on a pig and six-packs? I don’t want that stuff.”

Another interesting observation from Milbank’s travels: The men in Clinton’s life seem to have a harder time than she does letting go of her candidacy. At one point, the columnist describes a long-winded Ed Rendell recounting the glory days of the primary and attempting an awkward “Hillary!” chant while the New York senator tries to wrestle the mike from him. The event was meant to be an Obama rally, after all.

Dana Milbank in the Washington Post:

“Palin — God forbid! Where did they find her?” Evelyn Fruman exclaimed Monday before a Clinton speech at a Jewish community center here.

“God forbid!” Gail Silverberg chimed in. “Hockey moms and lipstick on a pig and six-packs? I don’t want that stuff.”

Nearby, Rina Jampolsky was wearing a “Hillary Sent Me” button next to a pin saying “Barack Obama” in Hebrew. “I thought I wouldn’t vote at all when Hillary left the race,” she said. “But as soon as McCain selected Sarah Palin, my decision was made.”
