The effects of the massive BP oil spill are bound to find expression in art, and indeed, the Jonathan Ferrara Gallery in New Orleans has given a handful of artists space to show their visions of oil-covered pelicans, defiant marsh grass shoots and even an oily version of a familiar Sistine Chapel scene. Pieces and prints from the Gulf Aid Art exhibition will be sold at Ferrara’s gallery through July 28, with all proceeds going to the nonprofit Gulf Aid organization. –KA

For the project, artists created limited edition 10-series prints responding to the oil spill. The work will be sold both in Ferrara’s New Orleans gallery and online, and in an effort to make the art accessible to the general public and raise as much money as possible, prices will range from $100 to $500, with the potential to raise $80,000 for relief efforts.
