President Obama’s job approval rating has been dropping steadily since April and is now back near his all-time low.
According to Gallup’s tracking, only 39 percent of Americans approve of the president’s job performance. That’s his worst rating since August 2011.
Although the government shutdown, with Republicans absorbing most of the public ire, distracted from the president’s woes, his drop has been steady.
It’s all too easy to pick an issue to blame for the president’s troubling numbers, but there are many to choose from: the bungled launch of the Affordable Care Act, the NSA’s ever-expanding eavesdropping revelations, an economic recovery that has mainly benefited the wealthy — and the list goes on.
