Obama Gears Up for the Next Round
Barack Obama was busy drumming up support — and additional funding — in New Jersey on Friday, readying his response to the McCain campaign’s Palin-palooza at last week’s Republican National Convention and telling supporters he’s ready to scrap it out. When it came to the fundraiser at Jon Bon Jovi’s house, attendees paid the equivalent of a midrange luxury sedan (note: funds to go to the DNC and Obama’s campaign) to hear him say that, so no doubt they’ll be expecting him to make good on his word.
’TIS THE REASON…
Obama spoke for about eight minutes before greeting guests individually. He vowed to fight Republican attacks on his character and background more fiercely than John Kerry did in his losing campaign four years ago.
“We’re not going to be bullied, we’re not going to be smeared, we’re not going to be lied about,” Obama said. “I don’t believe in coming in second.”
