GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich started his week on the wrong foot with ill-advised TV tirades and a huge Tiffany tab, but the glitter on the cake came Tuesday when a gay rights advocate dumped a bag of the stuff on Gingrich and his wife, Callista. They were signing books at an event in Minneapolis when the culprit struck, saying, “Feel the rainbow, Newt. Stop the hate. Stop anti-gay politics. It’s dividing our country and it’s not fixing our economy.” Gingrich’s joking response: “It’s nice to live in a free country.” — KDG
