Following an announcement by North Korea that it may respond “physically” to a joint U.S.-South Korea military drill beginning Sunday, further rumbling above the 38th parallel has escalated to the point that the North is threatening to use a “nuclear deterrent” against the exercises.

Pyongyang was ready to launch a “retaliatory sacred war” at any time, the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said.
