Cadmium is a metallic element known to cause damage to the liver, kidneys, lungs, nervous system and brain. The amount of cadmium in the “Shrek” glasses is relatively low, but the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has warned people to immediately stop using them. –JCL

The BBC:

Fast food chain McDonald’s has recalled 12m drinking glasses promoting the new Shrek movie because painted designs on them contain the toxic metal cadmium.
