John McCain has secured the Republican nomination with a projected sweep of the March 4th primaries. He was thought by many political insiders to be too independent to pull it off, but his march to the right appears to have been successful. It is fitting, therefore, that he is expected to visit the White House on Wednesday to further tie himself to George W. Bush.


CNN:

McCain swept all four contests in Texas, Ohio, Vermont and Rhode Island, giving him the 1,191 delegates needed to clinch the GOP nomination.

McCain will travel to the White House to be endorsed by President Bush as early as Wednesday, sources tell CNN.

The Arizona senator overwhelmingly won moderates and conservatives in Ohio, but he lost the evangelical vote to Mike Huckabee, according to exit polls.
