Scheer said that even if Hillary Clinton is qualified, “What is the value of qualification if it always leads you to the wrong decision?” Harvard lecturer Juliette Kayyem said it’s great that Bernie Sanders is finally getting “vetted” and that his statement made her like Hillary Clinton even more.
National Review editor Rich Lowry, meanwhile, urged Republicans to support Ted Cruz, even if there will be “a lot of people grinning and bearing it.” He added that the “white knight” scenario of a deadlocked convention and Paul Ryan stepping in is completely fanciful.
The group also explored this week’s Panama Papers expose on tax havens and those worldwide taking advantage of them.
Josh Barro of Business Insider moderated from the center. Scheer spoke from the left and Rich Lowry of National Review from the right. Kayyem, of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and the WGBH News podcast Security Mom, was special guest.
