Either way, Russia has taken on an indispensable role in the negotiations. President Vladimir Putin asked the United States to proceed with caution in a New York Times editorial.
Also, recent votes — the New York City mayoral primary and a Colorado recall campaign — suggest voters may be putting social issues above economic concerns. But that doesn’t change reports that the wealth inequality in the U.S. remains extreme.
