While most of the media are focusing on the midterm elections for the U.S. Senate (despite the probability that, regardless of who wins, Congress will continue to be utterly unproductive), the “Last Week Tonight” host argues that we should be focusing on state legislatures at the polls Tuesday. And given that local legislatures have passed more than 24,000 bills just this session while the national Congress approved only 185 laws, John Oliver may have a point.
