It turns out even Uncle Sam has had enough of hidden fees.
The United States is suing Sprint, alleging that the company inflated its surveillance bills. Telecommunications firms are allowed to charge the government for spying on their customers, but there are rules governing the process and the Obama administration is accusing Sprint of breaking those rules.
Sprint denies any wrongdoing.
The Verge reports that Sprint charged federal agencies, mostly the Drug Enforcement Administration, $37 million, but that amount does not include secret bills to intelligence agencies.
