Good Riddance
Say it with us: former President Bush. After eight crazy years, George W. Bush is escaping to Texas, where he plans to work on his memoirs and, one imagines, clear some brush. He leaves a nation in despair. Perhaps his greatest achievement was scaring America into the arms of Barack Obama. Heckuva job, Bushie.

There is no shortage of postmortems on the Bush presidency. E.J. Dionne and Marie Cocco each have summarized his legacy well. Then there are the number charts, this one by ProPublica, for instance. Very disturbing stuff there. When all is said and done, the most comprehensive indictment of the Bush administration is probably Rep. Dennis Kucinich’s articles of impeachment. The man may have escaped the long arm of the law, but at least there is a record of his crimes.
