Glenn Beck took time off from televised crying last Friday to explain himself to Jay Leno. “I’m a regular guy. I’m a self-educated man,” said Beck, who bragged about his 10 weeks of college. Shortly before announcing “I’m not a TV guy,” Beck declared that “we have a truth problem” in America. No shit.

Blowhards always tone it down for the more mainstream Leno audience, but there’s something especially obnoxious about the greatest purveyor of nonsense in this country telling us we have a “truth problem.”

Beck’s rant against Harvard types should not be ignored. The right has been doing a better job speaking to the growing populist rage in this country. If Beck and his colleagues can channel that anger towards flag waving and away from tax-raising, his paymasters at Fox will no doubt be pleased.
