Barber Wins Arizona Special Election:

Ron Barber has won the special election to serve out the rest of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ term. Barber, a Democrat, defeated Republican challenger Jesse Kelly by roughly seven points. Giffords resigned her seat in January, one year after she nearly lost her life in an assassination attempt. Barber was also critically injured in the January 2011 shooting. (Read more)

Dimon Testifies in Front of Congress: Coming on the heels of an apology, Jamie Dimon told the Senate Banking Committee on Wednesday that he couldn’t defend the indefensible — JPMorgan Chase’s $2 billion in trading losses. Dimon, the bank’s chairman and CEO, said the loss was “purely management’s mistake.” He maintained that the incident was an “isolated” one and that the multibillion-dollar loss would not have broader repercussions for bank customers or taxpayers. Not surprisingly, Dimon was greeted by hecklers as he testified in front of Congress for a second consecutive day. (Read more)

Adelson Donates to Romney: Speaking of large sums of money — billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson is reportedly donating $10 million to a pro-Mitt Romney super PAC. Although the donation has not yet been confirmed, the figure would represent the largest single sum of money given to Romney’s election efforts so far. You may recall that Adelson previously supported Newt Gingrich’s failed Republican presidential bid. (Read more)

Independents Think Romney and Obama Economic Plans Are Bad: According to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll, independent voters do not like the economic plan presented by either President Obama or Mitt Romney. Romney’s plan, however, was seen slightly more “favorably” than Obama’s. That’s actually not saying much considering the vast majority overall also viewed Romney’s plan in a negative light. Fox News Considered ‘Uncivil’: A new survey reveals that Americans think Fox News is — get ready for this shocker — the most “uncivil” network on television today. (If you’ve ever watched Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity or the morning show “Fox & Friends,” you probably understand why the survey results are not surprising.) News outlets overall fared badly in the survey, including cable channels MSNBC and CNN. (Read more)
