Elizabeth Warren and Thomas Piketty Explain How Wealth Trickles ‘Up,’ Not Down

Elizabeth Warren’s book “A Fighting Chance” and Thomas Piketty’s “Capital in the Twenty-First Century” seem to go hand in hand; while the Massachusetts senator offers an explanation of how “the system is rigged,” the French economist provides empirical evidence that it’s been occurring for over 250 years, as HuffPo Washington Bureau Chief Ryan Grim explains. The event that brought the two best-selling authors together to discuss the American economy and the growth of income disparity plaguing the nation was co-hosted over the weekend by Huffington Post and the Patriotic Millionaires, a group whose slogan reads “Because our country is more important than our money.”
