At a press conference, former University of Oklahoma student Levi Pettit asked civil rights leaders and the public for forgiveness for leading a racist chant at a fraternity outing.

Pettit asked for the meeting. State Senator Anastasia Pittman, a Democrat and the head of Oklahoma’s Legislative Black Caucus, said it was attended by the local chapter of the NAACP.
