Dems Offer Family-Friendly Take on Obamacare-Work Link

So, we’ve heard the GOP’s spin on the possible dip in work hours that could result, according to a recent report from the Congressional Budget Office, from the Affordable Care Act and the options it offers Americans in the health insurance marketplace.

So now, of course, it’s past time for the Democratic camp to split hairs in a different direction — and here comes Chuck Schumer to do just that. And as the seasoned lawmaker framed it on Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” Obamacare also ensures healthy family values (via The Guardian):

In a new partisan tussle over election messaging that is likely to colour this year’s congressional midterm campaign, Democratic lawmakers said a predicted drop in work hours brought about by Obamacare would mean more family time for mothers, more study opportunities for college students and less job stress for older workers.

“The single mom, who’s raising three kids [and] has to keep a job because of healthcare, can now spend some time raising those kids. That’s a family value,” Democratic Senator Charles Schumer said on NBC’s Meet the Press.
