Monday’s broadcast of “Democracy Now!” included this segment on the status of the crisis in Syria, two days after the Arab League suspended Syria’s membership and eight months into the battle between opposition members and President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. As Amy Goodman reports, Assad’s government is facing more pressure from abroad to stop killing protesters as the death toll since the uprising began numbers in the thousands — more than 4,100, according to Syrian lawyer Razan Zaitouneh, who gives her account from a hidden location.
