Wealthy Republicans attended three separate events last weekend to raise money for the upcoming election. Donors who bundled $250,000 or more for the Romney campaign were invited to a retreat with the candidate in Park City, Utah, while Beverly Hills hosted the Republican Jewish Coalition Summer Bash. In attendance was billionaire Sheldon Adelson, who said he planned to give up to $100 million to Romney. At the same time, the Koch brothers held their Koch world convention in San Diego, where even more GOP financiers pledged $400 million to put Romney in the White House. As always, Jon Stewart is on the case.

Altogether, Romney may have raised more than half a billion dollars in just one weekend. For a lottery player, the odds of making that kind of dough are something like 1 in 176 million. But if you have a super PAC and some wealthy Republican friends, it’s a different story. (Stewart also interviews Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, so be sure to check that out as well.)
