Leave it to Jon Stewart to point out the absurdity of the election coverage surrounding the attempt in Wisconsin to recall Republican Gov. Scott Walker. “The Daily Show” host turned his acerbic wit on the cable news pundits for their assessment of what was at stake. We learn that if Walker lost, he would be suffering one of “the worst indignities for an elected official,” a point Stewart took umbrage with (because, after all, we know the worst indignity a politician could suffer would be to deliver a speech pantless).

Stewart also poked fun at “Fox & Friends” host Gretchen Carlson for not so subtly making the connection that a Walker loss could turn Wisconsin into a borderline communist state, beholden to all of the public unions. “It’ll be like Communist China if Walker loses,” Stewart joked. “I mean, we’ll all be forced to join unions … like in China.”

So there you have it: A Walker victory in the recall election saved Wisconsin from becoming the next China.
