In the last week alone, those warning of a civil war in Iraq included: America’s top commander in Iraq, Gen. George Casey; Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Peter Pace; Centcom commander Gen. John Abizaid; and Britain’s ambassador to Iraq.

But what does Bush hear? “Yadda yadda yadda.”

  • Of course, as Rich Cohen argues today in the Washingon Post, many of those generals were saying as recently as a year ago that they weren’t foreseeing a civil war right around the corner (despite the fact that a second-grade knowledge of the recent history of Iraq would have pointed to one).
