Ben & Jerry’s Rolls Out Gay Marriage-Themed Ice Cream
Left-leaning ice cream maker Ben & Jerry's is temporarily changing the name of its popular "Chubby Hubby" ice cream to "Hubby Hubby" to serve up support for same-sex couples, who as of Sept. 1 can marry in the company’s home state of Vermont.

Ben & Jerry’s partner in this particular act of politics through foodstuffs is Freedom to Marry, which also is campaigning to bring Hubby Hubby to other U.S. states — along with marriage equality, of course. –KA
AS CHAOS UNFOLDS, FIND SOLID GROUND…Boston Herald:
“The legalization of marriage for gay and lesbian couples in Vermont is certainly a step in the right direction, and something worth celebrating with peace, love – and plenty of ice cream,” Ben & Jerry’s CEO Walt Freese said in announcing the sugary switch.
Ben & Jerry’s, which has long backed liberal causes, plans to rebrand “Chubby Hubby” as “Hubby Hubby” for 30 days to show support for Vermont’s new law.
The move is mostly symbolic, as Burlington-based Ben & Jerry’s isn’t changing labels on “Chubby Hubby” pints sold in stores.
