A day before his scheduled execution, Amnesty International USA released a message from Troy Davis, who said, “I will not stop fighting until I’ve taken my last breath.” Davis will be killed Wednesday night unless there is a last-minute intervention.

Seven of the nine witnesses who testified against Davis at trial for allegedly shooting a police officer have recanted.

Amnesty International USA released the following statement from Davis on its Facebook page:

The day before his scheduled execution, this is what Troy Davis asked us to share with you:

“The struggle for justice doesn’t end with me. This struggle is for all the Troy Davises who came before me and all the ones who will come after me. I’m in good spirits and I’m prayerful and at peace. But I will not stop fighting until I’ve taken my last breath.”

The Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles decided Tuesday that Davis did not deserve clemency, despite an international campaign to pressure the board and raise awareness about the doubt of his guilt. — PZS
