In the early hours of Saturday morning, a group of men dressed as Iraqi army soldiers busted into five houses in a southern district of Baghdad, handcuffing up to 25 people and shooting them in the head.

Some of the victims were members of Iraq’s security forces and others were members of Sunni groups that had allied with the U.S. in its fight against al-Qaida. Up to 25 people have been arrested, though authorities still aren’t saying who is responsible. –JCL

Up to 25 people have been killed after a group of men dressed in Iraqi army uniforms stormed five houses in southern Baghdad, Iraqi authorities have said.

The attack took place in a village in the capital’s Rasheed district in the early hours of Saturday.

“Men wearing uniforms and driving vehicles similar to those used by the army stormed … houses in the village of Sufiya … and killed 25 people, including five women,” an interior ministry official said.

The victims were handcuffed and shot in the head, police said.
