This just in: The BBC brings word from Spain of the staging of a new musical, “Anne Frank: A Song to Life,” which at times features “Kitty,” a perhaps unwisely (and too literally) conceived character.

Paul Warfield Tibbits Jr., the man who flew the Enola Gay to drop the “Little Boy” A-bomb on Hiroshima on Aug. 6, 1945, has died at 92 in Columbus, Ohio. Tibbits, who named his B-29 after his mother, requested that his grave be unmarked to thwart potential protesters.

Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is dabbling in revisionist history. Despite the historical evidence, and a 1993 apology by a government official, Abe now denies any Japanese military involvement in forcing thousands of women into brothels throughout Asia in the 1930s and ‘40s.
