Exxon Threatens to Arrest Reporters for Entering Arkansas Oil Spill Site

The oil giant is sure doing its best to prevent journalists from covering the recent oil spill from its Pegasus pipeline in Mayflower, Ark., reporters say. And unfortunately for them, a pliant county sheriff’s office has shown it’s all too willing to help Exxon Mobil out.

Iran Condemns Clinton

If Hillary Clinton becomes the next president, her administration will have a hell of a time improving relations with Iran, a country that has a few cards to play when it comes to stability in Iraq and the price of oil. That’s because Clinton recently threatened Iran’s annihilation and it turns out that the Iranian government pays attention to these things.

Pentagon: Maybe It Wasn’t Iran After All

Remember those Iranian vessels that allegedly menaced U.S. warships in the Gulf, threatening explosions? Just a few days after the president issued stern warnings to Iran over the incident, the Pentagon now says the threats, which were spoken by someone without an Iranian accent, might not have come from the Iranians and might not have even been directed at the Americans.

Defense Dept. Removes Critical Report from Website

The report, by the DoD’s inspector general, found security flaws in the “Star Wars” missile defense system. After a magazine did a story on the report, the DoD scrubbed the document from its website, and won’t say why it did so. Luckily for us curious types, the magazine saved a digital copy. Court Sides With Abortion Protesters

The Supreme Court ruling had nothing to do with the underlying issue of abortion. Rather, the court ruled that federal extortion and racketeering laws cannot be used to ban demonstrations. (Alito, by the way, sat this one out.)

Coast Guard Had Security Qualms on Port Deal

The Coast Guard warned weeks ago that it couldn’t be sure that the UAE wasn’t supporting terrorists. The disclosure came during Monday’s hearings about the Arab country’s attempts to take over control of major U.S. ports. Check out the unclassified Coast Guard document.
Wanna know why 64% of people disapprove of this deal? Consider how much time and energy Bush & Co. have spent scaring the American public with “what if” scenarios about Arab threats (see: Saddam).
