After months of breathless anticipation, techies everywhere have a new gadget/cultural phenomenon on their hands in the form of Apple Inc.’s new tablet, the iPad. Apple CEO Steve Jobs was on hand to do the unveiling honors at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on Wednesday morning, and based on the results, you can bet the lines will be forming in front of Apple stores yet again.

Speculating and whispering about other people’s business is a time-honored (see: Ten Commandments), if tawdry, tradition, and gossip is also fueling quite a large international industry these days, in case you hadn’t noticed. The Vatican has come up with “Ten Commandments” for drivers, warning that cars can be “an occasion of sin.” The document recommends prayer for surviving the road in good physical and spiritual condition, especially saying the rosary while driving because its “rhythm and gentle repetition does not distract the driver’s attention.”
