L.A. to Get Public Transportation Just in Time for Flying Cars

Angelenos are so eager to have a non-bumper-to-bumper way of getting around town that they approved a sales tax increase, but the actual building of a light rail line, with an original completion date of 2036, has left something to be desired. New federal funds could bring that date closer to 2024. We’ll be sure to notice from our Martian colony.

The French didn’t invent the wheel, but with their latest urban project they’re reinventing how it’ll be used in their beloved capital.  On July 15, Mayor Bertrand Delanoë and other green-minded Parisians were on hand at the launching of the “Velib’ ” program, which makes some 10,600 public-use bicycles available at 750 stations throughout the world’s most visited city.

Santa Monica Drops ‘Top Model’ Ads

Santa Monica has removed advertisements for the TV show “America’s Next Top Model” from city buses because some residents complained the images were disrespectful to women. The ads featured host Tyra Banks and a group of women wearing swimsuits.
