China Wary of Obama’s New Military Plan

Republicans weren’t the only ones irked at our nation’s leader this week. President Obama has also ruffled some feathers in the Chinese government with his newly hatched military strategy, which he announced in a rare news conference at the Pentagon on Thursday, and which apparently strikes the Chinese as a potentially unwelcome display of U.S. prowess on their side of the globe.

More Than 20 Killed in Russian Sub Accident

A Russian navy submarine propelled by nuclear power was heading back to port during a test run in the Sea of Japan when the fire-extinguishing system was accidentally activated near the sub’s bow, killing over 20 people and injuring at least 21 others aboard.

The word “seafoam” might call to mind a posh shade of light green that would color, say, select Restoration Hardware or J. Crew products.  However, for seaside dwellers along a stretch of Australian coastline in New South Wales, the term quite literally describes the frothy substance that completely covered their beaches after a nearby storm stirred up the Pacific.
