Nearly 200 Children Killed by Gunshot Since the Sandy Hook Massacre

Mother Jones’ analysis of deaths related to guns reported in the media shows that at least 194 children under the age of 12 have been killed in accidents or homicides since the Newtown shooting a year ago. Violence Is Deeply Rooted in American Culture

The gun violence figures flooding the media in the wake of the Newtown massacre are startling, “but they do not tell us enough about the cult and spectacle of violence in American society. Many Dutch citizens are attempting to “de-baptize” themselves to protest Pope Benedict’s anti-gay marriage declarations; a national database of gun owners may have helped prevent the Newtown shooting; and although the media insist the president is giving in to the Republicans’ demands to make cuts to Social Security, Obama’s been trying to reduce it all along. These discoveries and more after the jump.
