Heavy Drinkers Live Longer Than Nondrinkers

A study has found that people who drink a lot of alcohol tend to live longer than people who never touch the stuff. So much for not burning the candle at both ends. But don’t go crashing that frat party just yet: People who drink in moderation, as in one to three drinks a day, live longest of all.

Study: Beware of Vitamins

Health nuts, take heed: A sweeping review of almost 70 scientific studies of the health benefits of vitamins and, in particular, those trendy antioxidants, has found “no convincing evidence” of increased lifespan. In fact, vitamins A, E and beta-carotene could even increase a person’s chances of dying prematurely, according to scientists at Copenhagen University.

A Long but Drunken Life

A new study found that obese mice given massive doses of a substance found in red wine enjoyed improved health and increased longevity.  Although the results are promising, a human would have to drink between 750 and 1,500 bottles of wine a day to achieve the dose of resveratrol given to the rodents.
