Freeman Replacing Cronkite in CBS News Intro

If anything should make someone the logical choice to introduce the “CBS Evening News With Katie Couric” via voiceover, it’s surely that the person previously played the role of God. No, not George Burns—it’s too late for that (and probably too soon for that joke). Well, then, how about Morgan Freeman?

Couric and Huckabee

Palin Still Gets Huckabee’s Vote (Against Obama)

Strange but true: Even after leaving office this summer well before her term as Alaska’s governor was over, Sarah Palin’s “executive experience” still strikes Mike Huckabee as valid evidence of leadership that would put her above Barack Obama in the former Arkansas governor’s estimation, were he to be faced with those two choices at the polls.

ABC’s ‘World News’ to Swap Gibson for Sawyer

Not so long ago, it seemed like big news that a woman—CBS’ Katie Couric—would be chosen to anchor the nightly news at a major network. Now Couric’s got some competition in Diane Sawyer, who’ll replace Charlie Gibson at ABC’s “World News” starting in January.

Fox News Report: Palin Didn’t Know Africa Is a Continent

Fey Takes On Palin, Take Two

“Saturday Night Live” alumna Tina Fey returned once again to fulfill her comedic duty on the Sept. 27 episode of NBC’s comedy show, spoofing Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s one-on-one interview with CBS anchor Katie Couric earlier in the week. Fey’s fellow “SNL” comedian Amy Poehler dropped her Hillary Clinton act to play Couric in this clip.

Palin and Friends: The Governor Is Interviewed by Fox’s Hannity

Thank goodness there was Fox News host Sean Hannity to fill the excruciating void between Sarah Palin’s big interview with ABC’s Charlie Gibson and her upcoming one-on-one with CBS’ Katie Couric. On Wednesday he sat down with Palin for the benefit of Fox’s conservative-friendly audience.

Cindy McCain

Cindy McCain ‘Couldn’t Be Happier’ With Choice of Palin

John McCain’s wife, Cindy, sat down with CBS News anchor Katie Couric for an interview that aired Wednesday night, pledging to Couric that the VP vetting process was indeed thorough and sounding her enthusiasm for Sarah Palin. She said she agrees with the Alaska governor about the need to teach intelligent design in the schools but disagrees that abortion should be prohibited even in cases of incest or rape.

Anti-Rumsfeld General: Questioning Command Healthy For Democracy

Major Gen. John Batiste (ret), who has called for Rumsfeld’s resignation, tells Katie Couric: “I think there’s a lot of people now starting to ask questions, and I think that’s healthy in a democracy.” He also says the book “Cobra II” gets the Iraq War story right.
