White House Impeaches an Ornament

When Laura Bush oversaw the White House’s Christmas tree decorations, she failed to notice a shiny red-and-white ornament with the message “Impeach Bush.” The orb has since been removed, but the artist who created it still got to party with the Bushes.

It’s not going to be an easy campaign, but anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan has made good on her pledge to try to take over Nancy Pelosi’s congressional seat this fall. Bhutto’s Husband Won’t Seek PM Position

Although the late Benazir Bhutto’s party, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), fared well in Monday’s parliamentary election, her widower, Asif Ali Zardari (a controversial figure known in some circles as “Mr. Ten Percent”), isn’t planning to follow in her footsteps as Pakistan’s prime minister.

One-time presidential candidate and former Sen. George McGovern penned a bombshell of an Op-Ed piece in Sunday’s Washington Post, asserting that the case for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney “is far stronger than was the case against Nixon and Vice President Spiro T. Agnew after the 1972 election.”

North Dakota Congressman Calls Bush a ‘Clown’

Here’s a snippet that shows what it must be like for your average congressperson heading for work these days:  Watch as North Dakota Rep. Earl Pomeroy is descended upon by two women vigorously demanding that President Bush be impeached, which spurs a clearly irked Pomeroy to fume that, “I can’t stand this president ... [but] people I represent don’t wanna impeach this clown.”

Olbermann Calls on Bush to Resign

In another of his not-to-be-missed special comments, Keith Olbermann takes the president to task over his commutation of “Scooter” Libby’s sentence. The “Countdown” host compares Bush to Richard Nixon, who, he says, at least had the decency to resign once his abuse of power was exposed.

Berkeley Voters to Weigh Bush Impeachment

The City Council of the left-leaning Calif. municipality voted to put the question to citizens on the Nov. 7 ballot. It’s symbolic, of course, because only Congress can impeach.

  • And although some cities, like San Francisco and Oakland, have passed pro-impeachment resolutions, Berkeley will be the first city to directly ask its voters to decide.
