The attorney general of the Syrian province Hama resigned in a video posted online by activists Thursday in protest of President Bashar al-Assad’s violent response to peaceful protesters.
Syrian protesters siding with Prime Minister Bashar Assad’s regime made their displeasure with the U.S. and France apparent, after those countries showed support for the opposition, by attacking their embassies in Damascus on Monday.
History comes full circle in Syria. In February 1982, President Hafez al-Assad’s army stormed into the ancient cities to end an Islamist uprising.
