Another Deadly Shooting: Orlando Gunman Opens Fire in Former Office

On Friday, Jason Rodriguez, a 40-year-old engineer who had been fired from an Orlando, Fla., construction firm two years ago, went back to his former office and opened fire, killing at least one person and wounding at least five others before fleeing to his mother’s house, where he was tracked down and arrested.

Fort Hood Gunman Still Alive, Acted Alone

By the end of the day, some confusion about Thursday’s shooting at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas had been cleared up. It turns out, according to later reports, that the military doctor shot at the scene, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was the only gunman involved in the attack and that he was still alive in its aftermath.

14 Killed at N.Y. Immigration Center

A gunman blocked the back door to a Binghamton, N.Y., immigration office before opening fire on a citizenship class, killing 13 people and seriously wounding four others before taking his own life, according to local officials.

India: Gunman Asks For Pakistan’s Help

India has presented Pakistan with a letter it says comes from the lone surviving gunman from last month’s terror attacks in Mumbai. Indian authorities say the attackers were from Pakistan and the gunman in custody has asked for help from Islamabad.

9 Dead in Shooting at Omaha Mall

A gunman who opened fire at the Westroads Mall in Omaha, Neb., Wednesday afternoon turned his gun on himself after killing eight people and wounding nine others, according to local authorities.  At a news briefing following the shooting at the Von Maur department store, Sgt. Teresa Negron of the Omaha Police Department said the person believed to be the gunman was dead and his identity had not yet been confirmed.

Shooting at Cleveland High School

A gunman went on a shooting rampage in a high school in downtown Cleveland on Wednesday.  The gunman, who aimed shots at several people before killing himself, had apparently made threats at SuccessTech Academy last week.  According to Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, three teenagers and two adults were injured.

The Field Trip From Hell

A school in Tennessee recently staged a drill with a fake gunman during a week-long field trip that left students terrified and in tears. The sixth-graders were told a teacher dressed in a hooded sweatshirt was a shooter on the loose and that it was not a drill. The school’s principal said the incident “involved poor judgment.”

New Fear at Virginia Tech

Just 48 hours after Monday’s tragedy, Virginia Tech students and faculty were jolted Wednesday morning by another scare.  The AP reported that a police SWAT team descended upon an administrative building on campus to investigate a potential bomb threat linked to gunman Cho Seung-Hui, who killed himself Monday.

Virginia Tech Gunman ID’d

A day after the deadly shootings at Virginia Tech that killed 33 people, police have released the identity of the gunman.  He was 23-year-old senior Cho Seung-Hui, a “loner,” according to a campus official, who moved to the U.S. from South Korea 14 years ago.

Massacre at Virginia Tech

Students were under lockdown at Virginia Tech on Monday after a gunman opened fire in two buildings on the Blacksburg campus, killing at least 32 people (according to the Associated Press) and wounding at least 15 others before he shot himself.
