New E-Mails Detail Rove’s Role in Attorney Firings

Internal e-mails released Tuesday show that Karl Rove and other senior Bush aides played an “earlier and more active role” in the 2006 U.S. attorney firing scandal than previously revealed. The messages detail a concerted, two-year effort by Rove and staff to dismiss attorneys for political reasons.

More Information Demanded From Gonzales

In case Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was the only person on the planet to not know that his performance in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 19 was less than spectacular, on Wednesday Sens. Arlen Specter and Patrick Leahy helpfully served him a letter full of constructive criticism, and a mandate that he provide more information “within a week.”
