California Sues Auto Industry

California Attorney General Bill Lockyer went after the six biggest U.S. and Japanese automakers on Wednesday, filing a lawsuit that cites greenhouse gas emissions as a public nuisance.  Lockyer blamed the carmakers for millions of dollars worth of damage, and said he was out to get the taxpayers’ money back.

The Ultimate Low-Emission Driving Machine

BMW has just announced that it intends to be the first car company to bring a hydrogen-burning vehicle to market.  The race is on, with GM parading its hydrogen prototype on CBS on Tuesday, and Toyota and Honda fighting over who loves trees more.  Still, one has to wonder when the environmentally friendly car will trickle down from luxury status and low emissions can be had by all.

Supreme Court to Fact-Check Bush’s Global Warming Distortions

On the very day that Bush again peddled the blatant misrepresentation that “there’s a debate over whether [global warming] is man-made or naturally caused,” the Supreme Court injected some sanity into our discourse by announcing it will decide whether the federal government must regulate emissions of new cars to combat global warming.
Bush’s claims are only slightly more ludicrous in light of the fact that he made them while Washington, D.C., stands submerged in 18 inches of global-warming-propelled storm water.
