A class-action lawsuit claims online business review repository Yelp charges businesses a kind of protection fee to make bad reviews disappear. Yelp vehemently denies this, although the allegations line up with an earlier report of bad behavior.

‘Class Act’-ion at the L.A. Times

Former reporters from the L.A. Times and at least one current star columnist have filed a class-action suit against Sam Zell. The billionaire’s reign over the paper beginning in late 2007 has not been pretty, and the lawsuit contends that recent violations of federal financial rules have “diminished the value of the employee-owned company to benefit himself and his fellow board members.”

Gonzales Among Defendants in Iraq Vets’ PTSD Suit

With the problem of post-traumatic stress disorder on the rise among American veterans returning from battle in Iraq and Afghanistan, two veterans’ groups have filed a class-action lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales (pictured) and other defendants, citing systemwide failures in dealing with the PTSD crisis on the governmental level.
