90 Feared Dead in Lebanon Plane Crash

An Ethiopian Airlines plane carrying 90 passengers and crew crashed off the coast of Lebanon on Monday. The aircraft, which took off in a severe storm, was seen on fire before it went down. The cause of the crash is officially unknown, but Lebanese officials discounted the possibility of sabotage.

Sudanese Airliner Hijacked in Darfur

Three former rebels linked to the Sudanese Liberation Movement hijacked a commercial Boeing 737 airliner carrying 95 passengers soon after the Sun Air flight left Nyala in Darfur, Sudan, on Tuesday. The plane first tried to stop in Cairo but was denied clearance before going on to land in Libya, according to the BBC.

Dozens Killed in Sudan Plane Crash

A Sudan Airways passenger jet carrying around 200 people crashed while landing at the Khartoum airport late Tuesday, skidding off the runway during stormy weather, catching fire and splitting in half. Dozens of people on the craft were reported killed after earlier estimates placed the toll much higher.

The Airbus A380, the world’s largest airliner, touched down for the first time at London’s Heathrow Airport on May 18. It can carry 800 passengers, nearly 400 more than the Boeing 747. It has a lounge, fully reclining bed-chairs, a shopping area and a bar.
