Tom Engelhardt, who runs the Nation Institute’s, is the co-founder of the American Empire Project at Metropolitan Books.  His book, “The End of Victory Culture” (University of Massachusetts Press), deals with victory culture’s crash-and-burn sequel in Iraq.  In June 2008, the first Tomdispatch collection, “The World According to Tomdispatch; America in the New Age of Empire” (Verso Books) was published and his newest book is “Shadow Government: Surveillance, Secret Wars, and a Global Security State in a Single-Superpower World”. Engelhaedt is a Teaching Fellow at the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley.
