Scott Martelle

Veteran journalist Scott Martelle has written books on the Ludlow Massacre, the Red Scare clampdown on civil liberties, the history of Detroit and the story of the century-long search for John Paul Jones’ body. His latest book “The Madman and the Assassin: The Strange Life of Boston Corbett, the Man Who Killed John Wilkes Booth” was published in 2015.

He’s also spent time on the picket line, tended bar, hung drywall, and covered presidential campaigns. Some of those pursuits were more honest than others.  Martelle is now an editorial writer for the LA times and a co-founder of The Journalism Shop, a group of journalists available for freelance assignments.
