The vitriol of the 2012 election is worse than the previous elections. Worse than the Palin-induced smarmy 2008. Worse than the swift-boat lies of 2004. Worse, even, than the anything-goes craziness of 2000 and its ensuing bitterness.

The two most important trends, confirmed in Friday’s jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, are that (1) jobs slowly continue to return, and (2) those jobs are paying less and less.

In truth, no one should vote based on this batch of jobs numbers because a single month’s report isn’t a reliable gauge of which way the economy is heading.

Over the weekend, Romney debuted an ad in Ohio showing cars being crushed as a narrator says Obama “sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China. Mitt Romney will fight for every American job.” This is only the most recent in a stream of lies from Romney.
