The Difference Between a Terrorist and Someone Who Flies a Plane Into a BuildingPosted on Mar 12, 2010
By Reese Erlich There seems to be some confusion about who are the real terrorists these days. Allow me to shed some light on the issue. John Patrick Bedell was angry at the totalitarian federal government that had devastated public education, private property rights and monetary policy, so he shot two security guards at the Pentagon. He was not a terrorist. Andrew Joseph Stack flew a small plane into a building housing an office of the Internal Revenue Service in Austin, Texas, killing one IRS worker and injuring 13 people in the structure. Earlier that day, Stack wrote a diatribe on his Web page against the IRS and the federal government. “Violence not only is the answer,” he wrote, “it is the only answer.” Stack was not a terrorist. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, an Army psychiatrist of Palestinian origin, opened fire on fellow soldiers in Fort Hood, Texas, killing 13 and wounding 29. He strongly opposed U.S. military action in Afghanistan and Iraq. He is a terrorist. At first there may be some confusion about these designations, but there are clear differences among the three cases. The first two violent attacks were carried out as political protests by white conservatives angry at the federal government for taking over their rights. The third was carried out by an Arab-American Muslim angry at the federal government for taking over other people’s rights. Advertisement On the day of the attack against the IRS, The Wall Street Journal conveyed the comforting news that federal workers had not been victims of terrorism. “I consider this a criminal act by a lone individual,” said Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo. The major media offered a split opinion on Maj. Hasan. Some went with the “deranged loner” theory. Thank God that Fox News kept up the pressure on President Barack Obama and the liberal media to label it a terrorist attack. As Sen. Joe Lieberman pointed out on Fox, “There are very, very strong warning signs here that Dr. Hasan had become an Islamist extremist and therefore that this was a terrorist act.” Lieberman correctly understands that extremism comes only from the Muslim world, not right-wing white people with persecution complexes and semiautomatic weapons. There seems to be similar confusion about international extremists. The extremists of al-Qaida intentionally kill civilians in an effort to win political goals. They are terrorists. The U.S.-funded Afghan mujahedeen fighting against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan in the 1980s intentionally targeted university professors, movie theaters and cultural events. The U.S.-trained Nicaraguan Contras intentionally killed teachers and health workers in order to overthrow the Sandinista government in the 1980s. Both these groups were freedom fighters. America is besieged by enemies and we should be afraid. For decades this country faced the communist menace. I remember as an elementary school student hiding under my desk to protect myself against a Soviet nuclear attack and invasion. Today we face a far greater threat from Muslim terrorists. Thank goodness today’s children have much larger desks. I hope this clears up the confusion about exactly who is a terrorist. Remember, consistency is the core principle of American national security policy.

Sir (the author), are you reporting this with a straight face? I can almost here you snickering behind every line. This one is golden:“Today we face a far greater threat from Muslim terrorists.”
Report thisTears in my eyes! How could you possibly maintain your composure long enough to put such a thing in print? Who would have thought disorganized desert nomads who have to steal any weapons capable of inflicting whatever minimal damage they are capable of were A MORE SERIOUS THREAT than (at the time) a state-of-the-art nuclear superpower! I guess Reagan really didn’t accomplish much with communism collapsing and all. They were never a big threat to begin with, huh? Do you see where I’m going with this Mr. (or Mrs. or Ms.) Reese Erlich? There is no threat, there never was. The competition just makes the military industrial complex richer. Now go enjoy your coffee.

Suspicious? What’s so suspicious of a man sending anthrax to every major TV
Report thisnetwork…except for FOX. The two democrats who were served, Daschle and
Leahy, just happened to be pushing for an independent 9/11 investigation and a
slowing of the Patriot Act legislation. The F.B.I. didn’t even deem this “revenge
killer” a suspect for the majority of the time. When Ivins is about to be indicted
he commits suicide. Although Anna-Nicole Smith, Heath Ledger and Michael
Jackson’s drug-induced-death autopsies all take any where from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, Ivins’ cause of death is determined by the NEXT DAY
after his death! The man who had access to some of the world’s deadliest toxins
kills himself using…Tylenol and codeine. And then there is that weird list of
names that come up when you google deaths of microbiologists. Nope, nothing
strange here. Open and shut case. Pardon me while I straighten my tinfoil hat!

I consider the Anthrax Case an example of domestic partisan terrorism. It was only aimed at Democrats. The way it was handled is certainly suspicious. Especially since the prime suspect is blamed and dies before anyone can get to him. Case closed. Very convenient.

Least we forget, a week after 9/11 and then in October as well, anthrax was
Report thisreleased in the U.S. One would think that the use of a WMD on the general public
would be considered an act of terrorism. But the mantra most republicans
repeated during the Bush years was that “We haven’t been attacked since 9/11”
implying that those anthrax attacks were indeed not acts of terrorism. When
Bruce Ivins was finally indicted for these attacks 7 years later, he was deemed a
“sociopathic homicidal killer” and “revenge killer” by his psychotherapist. He also
supposedly had a grudge against a sorority. Unfortunately this “crazy man”
committed suicide so the case never came to trial. The F.B.I promised to release
the information regarding the case. Still waiting.

Well ITW, you hit it on the head in terms of the family dynamics in dealing with AZ and aging parents. It absolutely makes all the difference in the world. Meantime, I love the ‘now the gloves come off part’. In other words, I’ve had my 5 minutes of empathy, eh? But that’s OK. I look forward to it. I love to argue with people who know how to argue. You’re probably among my favorites.

Glad I gave you a chuckle!
When a friend of mine had a brain tumor removed (lung cancer metastasized there), I walked in after his surgery and said “I see your hemorrhoid operation was successful!” He stared at me for nearly 5 seconds and started laughing uncontrollably. What can I say? Irreverence is a gift! (sorta)

• I don’t think Bedell was right wing. He was a 9/11 truther, and you’d generally describe them as far left.
I’d have to disagree with this Reader, in part because left/right/center no longer have these meanings. In fact, I don’t believe these ‘directional descriptions should ever have been used to define political ideologies. They tend to confuse people. The same can be said of liberal and conservative. Now those USED to have some meaning, but they don’t anymore, because nobody seems to know what the hell conservative/liberal even mean in the political sense. I too am a ‘9/11 truther’ but under no circumstances am I ‘far left’, or ‘far’ anything for that matter.
It’s really all about the language, and how those who dictate the ‘meaning’ of things choose to spin it. In reality, ‘far’ ANYTHING’ is radical/extreme, and it doesn’t matter if it’s left or right, because at some point, (depending on how ‘far’ we go) the two will eventually converge. In other words, the ‘far left’ will eventually meet up with the ‘far right’.
So the so-called 9/11 truthers (and WHO came up with THAT designation?) may be just your average inquiring minds who already KNOW that the official version of 9/11 is a lie, and so we want the truth to be known. There’s nothing particularly left or right about truth advocates, because the truth doesn’t have a ‘direction’ or a political agenda. The so-called 9/11 truthers are also pegged as conspiracy theorists, as if that’s some ‘bad thing’. But in reality (again) the events of 9/11 WERE a CONSPIRACY! Regardless of who initiated the conspiracy, that’s exactly what it was. SOMEBODY(S) CONSPIRED to carry out that operation. Some put the conspiracy on al-Qaeda, and some put it on Cheney/Rumsfeld. I happen to be among the ones who put it on Cheney/Rumsfeld.
HOWEVER…that is NOT to say that al-Qaeda (or any other non-state actors) didn’t want or hope to accomplish something similar, because global terrorism is very, very, very real, and logic says that at some point, the rest of the globe would want to ‘strike back’ at the US establishment because of our decades of aggressive global hegemony. But that’s what makes false flag operations effective. There’s always some element of truth to any conspiracy/propaganda, which is the only way they serve their intended purpose.

I don’t know what the admin warned you for, but from my POV, and even from that of people who VEHEMENTLY disagree with me on everything else, ALL you had to do was stop the excessive serial posting. Lots of people post 2,3, 4 or even 5 posts, but usually because each one has hit the 4000 char limit. You would post 11 posts, some short, some long. Why? Just use paragraphs.
Cyrena: I think I know what you are going through as we are in the same situation with my mom (Dad’s gone). Mom’s Alzheimer’s is very difficult to handle, but I have the advantage that my siblings are ALL pitching in, each as much as he is capable, which is a lot. But it’s a battle. Now, it’s mainly memory loss both long and short term, and confusion. We don’t know whether Mom is telling us about today’s doctor visit or last week’s. Ensuring she takes her meds correctly is also a problem. We each have a lot going on in our lives with jobs, spouses, kids, an EX-spouse(1 sib), etc. and Mom’s care and attention wears out all of us. So I can just imagine what handling two aged Alzheimer’s parents with just yourself is like.
My dad’s aging was nothing like that. He had almost no memory loss, just a lot of hearing loss. Happily, no MOM syndrome at all—just slightly eccentric, but lovable to the end. That, more than anything led to Mom’s decline, from brilliant, dynamic, fearless community organizer to confused and frightened little old lady—still a nice person though, but, like many AZ patients, getting a little aggressive in her confusion.
I’m glad to see you back and wish you well.
Now off with the gloves!

Dear cyrena,
It is really a delight reading your post. I hope that the health of your mother has improved so that I can read your most thorough and interesting posts more often here on TD threads as in the good ol’ days when,as far as I am concerned,you were the one who had set the standard for patience,dedication and thoroughness in discussing any issue. When all of a sudden you disappeared,I really have missed all of that. Above all I have missed a good friend whom I have never met-a friend in proposing novel ideas and stimulating critical thinkings for serving the common good.
The echo of your firm stand for,and adherence to human rights,has lived on,on those various threads of TD,since I have tried to continue following your steps,whenever I had found appropriate to do so. I know for certain,I could not possibly match your thoroughness,patience and dedication since I was/am bound by my family obligations and lack of time you were aware of then. I post only after such family obligations are met in a satisfactory manner. Otherwise,I simply cannot.
~~~~
Dearest Sodium, ITW and Patrick Henry….
Thanks so much for your kind words. I’ve missed you all, and that’s the truth. The caregiving of my parents has literally monopolized my life, and has left room for little else. In fact, it came close to wiping ME out, and from a pragmatic viewpoint, that really isn’t helpful. So I am attempting to get a little bit of myself back, and hopefully that will improve over time.
I can’t say that my mother’s health is improving, since she is afflicted with what I’ve considered to be an epidemic now, for quite some time: The dreaded Alzheimer’s. There is no cure, so we all desperately need to focus on prevention. Still, she is stable now, and that actually IS a major improvement. I feel overwhelmingly grateful for the facility that we were able to find for her, because the staff and the set-up provides so very much more than I could ever have hoped to provide for her at home, and I’m close enough to spend time with her every day. Her physical health is good, and she is able to enjoy a quality of life that she simply did not have with just my stepfather taking care of her, particularly since his own health is extremely poor as well. He has a milder case of the dementia, in addition to a plethora of other medical problems made worse by MOM (Mean Old Man) Syndrome. They’ve both been terrorized by my half-sibling for 50 years (now THERE is a terrorist) so the damage is pretty permanent. She’s not likely to be happy until we’re ALL in the ground, and even that would be temporary, and she’d need new targets.
I wouldn’t feel so bad about whining if I thought we were the only ones with this struggle, but I know that is most certainly not the case. Like I said…this is an epidemic that we (as a society) have been woefully unprepared to deal with, but I think that is improving. I hold out hope that it will. Still, it’s a struggle. So I think I’m back, but admittedly I don’t have the time that I used to.
I’m also hoping that I can convince a few of you to join me on facebook. I’d avoided that particular network for a time, primarily because of privacy issues. (one former TD commentator/stalker actually DID track me down on FB) But the setup seems decent enough, (at least in terms of the privacy) so I’ll try to send a few private messages via the TD apparatus so that you’ll be able to find and connect with me if any of you choose to. I’m using my very own name/profile on that social network, so with the exception of Sodium, I don’t think the rest of you could find me. That’s why I’ll attempt the private messages.
Fond regards,
US Government definitions:
Terrorist
- an aggressive foreigner (or someone deemed to be foreign) who doesn’t like you and whose grievance you don’t understand nor want to understand.
Freedom fighter
- an aggressive foreigner that you like, and approve of because he’s fighting your enemies even if you don’t really understand why.
Deranged individual
– a citizen who behaves like a terrorist but you can understand what he’s angry about.
That sums it all nicely!
and kept on going with what was then
THE WAR ON COMMMUNISM…..giving the excuse to waste
all our resources to the upper elite and their military
machine….with blood to spare…and kept it right on
going until it was turned into the WAR ON TERROR…which
was started well before 911….
We started throwing the TERRORIST word around even before
we stopped blaming all the worlds woes on communism, all
so our government could throw all the tax money they could
collect upstairs to their good ole corporate friends…...You can demonize my words all you want
discussed, it usually is in some supportive manner, like
in Iraq and Afgan and Iran, and Yeaman and Somalia
and Pakistan and , want some more?,,,are all legitimate
wars on terror? Screwed Journalism.
TOPICS OF TERRORISM
That is all we heard during the Bush years until most of us
Report thiswere sickened by the very word.. Post after post taking
Bush to task for his war on terror and for using the word
terror as an excuse for every bad policy or waste of
money to no bid contracts he handed out.
The center , left of center and the left all joined
in their disgust in the use of terror to waste our money
or take away our rights. With a new administration,
most thought that this misrepresentation was on its way
out.
Now, still, every other article is about terrorism,
that really only exists due to very bad jounrnalism
that serves its owners and military friends.
One thing that can be done is to stop treating corporations as super-humans. Next stop the flow of wealth from the rest of us to the top 10%. That would benefit us all, keeping our economy stable as would our civilization.
Several years ago, the United Nations (as I recall) at the instigation of the United States, worked diligently to define “terrorism” but, because of U.S. objections to phrases in the suggested verbage, couldn’t come up with a definition. So we have no real meaning of what terrorism is. (Next, you’ll be asking what “is” is.) At the time of this impass I thought, “That’s because there are too many examples of no difference between Us Good Guys and Them Bad Guys.”
To digress slightly (from an article I copied several years ago - sorry I can’t cite authorship):
“The process for putting an organization on the “Terrorism list” is as follows: The Office of the Coordinator for Counterterrorism in the U.S. State Department (S/CT) monitors the activities of groups active around the world considered potentially terrorist to identify potential targets for designation. When reviewing potential targets, S/CT looks not only at the actual terrorist attacks that a group has carried out, but also at “whether the group may be inclined toward future acts of terrorism or retains the capability to carry out such acts”.
As of April 2007, a plurality (39%) of the organizations on the US Terrorism list represent Muslim groups recommended for inclusion by, among others, AIPAC and their friends in Congress. According to former AIPAC Director of Congressional Relations, Steve Rosen, soon to start his trial for passing classified information to Israel, “AIPAC owns the ‘T’ list!”
I think you have missed the irony of the article. The point here is to demonstrate the idiocy of the American media’s (especially Fox) supposed distinction between good and bad guys. The author is mocking this distinction, as there is absolutely no difference.
I would take it one step further, because in my book there isn’t much difference between a soldier and a terrorist although that would be construed as politically not correct. Both soldiers and terrorists kill civilians, the difference being that soldiers are openly sanctioned to do so by their governments, and if that government happens to be white and American, they are doubly blessed with the right to commit murder.
The only real terror here is the ruse our government uses to
instill and maintain a irrational level of constant fear which is
why, after our home grown terrorists brought down both world
What ever happened by Reese Erlich’s post is that several
person’s being judged by their crimes as legitimate one thing or
If Nidal Malik Hasan had a different name and came from a different place, you would not have the same stance you have now. Neither would you have the same stance if the other two people had Muslim names and came from Muslim areas. This article does not distinguish terrorist from “deranged individuals”. All it does is highlight your racism and prejudice toward the Muslim world, of which I am a part. Incidents 1 and 2 were white Americans killing innocent people because the government was doing something they did not like. Incident 3 was a Muslim American killing innocent people because the government was doing something he did not like. There is only one difference there. And that difference, in your view, makes only number 3 a terrorist. If you found someone who had not heard about any of these incidents and made all the perpetrators anonymous, they would not be able to tell you which one is a terrorist. And home-grown American terrorism is out there, such as the now infamous Jihad Jane. Terrorism is defined as “the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion”. Note that that sentence does not include the phrase “by Muslims or people of Arab descent”. ANYONE can do it. And you call the people who cannot make your “distinction” blind, when in reality you are blind to the fact that there is no distinction.
Mr. Erlich:
And your problem is what exactly? You sound as if you have just recently learned that the AmeriCorp Empire is hypocritical and by its own definition a terrorist supporting State.
There’s a valid reason why Maj. Hasan is seen in a different light as Stack and Bedel. Maj. Hasan attacked those soldiers on behalf of those that AmeriCorp has labeled as the terrorist enemy; thus he is treated as a terrorist. Stack and Bedel are from inside the family and attacked on behalf of the family; thus they’re criminals. There are historical precedents for this; the RICO laws. Wasn’t “organized crime” seen and treated differently from everyday ordinary crime?
This may come as a shock to you but AmeriCorp’s war on terror is really about securing oil reserves. Unfortunately for Muslims, the world’s second largest oil reserves are in Iraq and the land coveted by the Empire for a critical pipeline and control of heroin is Afghanistan. That should make it clear that AmeriCorp’s war on terror is really AmeriCorp’s pillaging of coveted resources. The people occupying those lands just happen to be Muslim. ”It’s not personal Erlich; it’s just business.” AmeriCorp needed a reason to invade the coveted lands and 9/11 served that purpose well. How else can one explain attacking two countries that never attacked AmeriCorp?
Haven’t you lived well benefitting from this system? Are you equally upset by the terrorism perpetrated on the people by Wall Street terrorist bankers? How many lives have those terrorists destroyed? Despite this, not only are those terrorist not labeled terrorists but rather than find themselves in Guantanamo they are often invited to the W.H. and serve in the Treasury!
Stack’s manifesto is pretty clearly political, even if vague, so I would put him in the terrorist category along with the KKK, McVeigh, anti-abortion bombers, and so forth. For me (following general usage) terrorism consists of acts intended to create terror performed for political purposes by non-state actors. States and quasi-state forces (like guerrilla bands) use terror as a matter of course, so the term “terrorist state” is more or less redundant.
• “The term (terrorist) is political.”
Not it isn’t Richard. It’s TACTICAL. Terrorism is a TACTIC, frequently used to achieve a political agenda, but not always. The KKK were/are terrorists. The Dick Bush regime were/are TERRORISTS. The Tamil Tigers, (the first group to use suicide attacks as a weapon to gain political advantage) would be considered terrorists. That’s why one person’s terrorist is another person’s freedom fighter.
The guy who rammed his airplane into the building in Austin was a nut job, not a terrorist, because he didn’t scare anybody into doing anything that they would not otherwise be willing to do.
*************************************************
Cyrena! Nice to see you back!
I agree and have said so: Terrorism is a tactic. However I disagree that Bush & Co are Terrorist. But the difference is subtle and semantic.
I argue that governments engage in terror, but private groups engage in terrorism. But let me be clear: I see them as moral equivalents and equally abhorrent. Terror as a tactic goes back forever. Genghis Khan used terror as a weapon, once wiping out every soul in a city of 160,000—more than the Hiroshima A-bomb. Using nuclear weapons was a terror tactic, not terrorism. Similar goals, moral equivalents. But not the same.
McVeigh and the KKK are clearly terrorists.
At first I thought Stack was a terrorist, but since he seems to have been a loner, not directed by a group like Al Qaeda, the old Weathermen, or Montana “Minutemen” I see him as a crazy murderer.
The echo of your firm stand for,and adherence to human rights,has lived on,on those various threads of TD,since I have tried to continue following your steps,whenever I had found appropriate to do so. The infrastructure of the US is going down down down, we are just slowing sliding to our demise…Really, yet it’s a good thing, hopefully maybe/ but who knows, the stupid, ugly materialists, who want the malls, cars, toys, materialistic consumption of owning, the American dream as on commercials, TV and movies to continue as usual, could possibly wake up?...Wake up to see the truth, that they have been manipulated on all sides to support death, war, misery, poverty, hate, fear, us against them..Wake up to the fact that this country has been deliberately deconstructed, that our constitutional rights are all but gone and that we are so close to being under total fascist rule it’s not funny…Self deception, justification, the real worship of their God MATERIALISM Capitalism, rule these people…The army psychiatrist was no more a terrorist than the guy who flew the plan into the building…The only real difference, is that the plane guy flipped out because of money, murdered/injured innocent workers, devastated his own wife and kid, burned their home down, because the US gov was taking away all his financial assets (booofrickenhoo)...The psychiatrist seems to have flipped out because he didn’t want to be part of an immoral, illegal, evil war, he couldn’t take it anymore…So who died and killed for morals, for humanity, protection of all that is good sacred and innocent, morality and convictions that were altruistic, and not materially motivated? I guess it was the plane guy, the other guy was just a terrorists….
Why should we try to identify what the media calls ‘terrorism’? Does it do us any good? Should we instead put our collective heads in the sand and just switch off? Or should we march in the streets as I did in NY before the occupation of Iraq began? When hundreds of bicyclists were arrested and held in squalor for 2 days by police with serious ‘attitudes’? and a media that barely covered the days event?
Report thisWho knows? Those with grudges toward the IRS who blow up buildings and insist on the ‘right to bare arms’ are the reason behind this obsession to scapegoat ‘foreigners’ as the enemy… be they mexicans or arabs….
The banking meltdown happened because in the US, materialism is king over co-operation and community.. The world is manipulated by 100 rich families playing real life video games! Terrorism is a word perpetuated by the media to put us all to sleep.
“There seems to be some confusion about who are the real terrorists these days.”
Yep. Been that way since the Judicial Coup of 2000 when the real terrorists kicked this whole thing off. Nine months later, we got 9/11.
“Wasn’t Timothy Mcvay referred as a terrorist? I believe the “unabomber” was referred to as a terrorist as well, though on that I’m not as certain. The Shoebomber has also been widely referred to as a terrorist as well.”
Yes Andy, they WERE referenced as terrorists because that’s what they were/are, at least according to the official definition of ‘terrorist’/terrorism. The people who carried out the Boston Tea Party were terrorists.
It’s probably accurate to say that most political violence (AKA TERRORISM)is accomplished by groups, but not always. Sometimes it’s a lone crazy wolf.
But this guy who flew his little tiny plane into a building doesn’t really qualify if only because he couldn’t possibly believe he was going to create the kind of terror that would be effective at scaring the shit out of a large segment of the population.
Acts of suicide have certainly been used in political terror for ages, (the weapon of the weak and weaponless) but this guy is just an updated version of all the folks that were jumping out of buildings in 1929, after that market crash.
Thanks for suggesting that the article was sarcasm. I guess I’m dense. I didn’t see the sarcasm, and I almost defined myself as a pre-April fool.
Clearly, seeing the intent of sarcasm in this article, is the only way this article can be perceived as being rational.
During the Revolutionary War, a war between two plutocratic classes, King George and the neoconic Tories in London referred to the Minutemen in the colonies as “terrorists.” THAT is the term they used to describe George Washington, et.al.
The term (terrorist) is political. Presently… it is a convenient labeling tool used by the corp-rat owned media in capitalist/fascist Amerika to $ell hegemony (and the hubis of empire) to the ignorant, fat ass masses for invasion and occupation of foreign lands (a.k.a.: re-$ource wars).
So… let me now give ewe corn syrup folks out there some other MacCarthyist propagan-duh terms employed by the Amerikan ruling class to further their fascist/capitaist agenda, namely the re-$ource wars briefly mentioned above.
Let’s start with guerrilla, insurgent, rebel, pinko, dissident, agent provocateur, $ub-versive, anarchist, commie, atheist, Muslim, etc. Frankly, it’s all the same animal… meaning any person or group of persons opposing the Amerikan ruling class (bankster gambler addicts in the Wall $treet casino, the macho Pentagon boners, ethno-racist KKKristian/Zionist wackos, pharmaceutical Nazis, rapacious and discompassionate insurance company corp-rats, talk hate radio propagandists, etc.).
Sad to say… the UNITED $TATES OF PERPETUAL WAR PROFITEERING has devolved into a beastly plutocrazy. The lone wolves out there (Bedell, Stack, Kazinsky, McVeigh, etc.) are part of the non Muslim vangard for open rebellion… birthing wide ‘espread’ civil disobedience and “McVeigh Franchises” (a.k.a.: guerrilla cells). In ten years or less, there will be no safe road for a rich man to drive his noisy Ferrari.
Allow me to reiterate the term: McVeigh Franchises. This is a phenomena slowly being born from the obscenely wide WEALTH GAP between the haves and the have $nots in the UNITED $TATES OF PERPETUAL WAR PROFITEERING. See it! See it! See the beast as it really is!
As for Joe Stacks, he was the first Amerikan $UICIDE BOMBER. Yesss! A non Muslim $uicide bomber! We can expect to see more of Joe Stack in the future… probably shooting up $hopping malls with automatic weapons (or maybe the lobby of Goldman $acks)... and then going out with forty pounds of C-4 plastik explosives as the glorious [sic] $wat Teams close in… on the so called guerrilla, pinko, insurgent, rebel, commie, atheist, $ub-versive, dissident, anarchist… “terrorist.”
I shall leave ewe faster poo food fools in Amerika with the following caveat. WHEN A MAN IS HUNGRY, IT IS A TERRIBLE THING TO BEHOLD. HOWEVER… WHEN A MAN SEES HIS CHILDREN HUNGRY, HE BECOMES EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
Hopefully… the caveat give above will give the Amerikan ruling class something to think about. Perhaps compel them to come to their $enses? Eh?
Beware rich man! There are a lot of people out here who want a pound of flesh… and they want to roast that flesh over the flames of burning mansions.
Terrorist is reactionary-speak for scapegoat. Any person, group, or political/national entity that actively resists playing ball with our multinational fascio-corporate government becomes either a terrorist or purveyor thereof and is to be immediately crushed by our peace-loving military who sees no irony in classifying the murder of innocent foreign civilians as “collateral damage”. And of course we’ll hunt those rascals down until we get’um or their critical natural or strategic resources(which ever comes first; and we know which that is because we’re still a’huntin’ for them rascals). On the other hand somebody that that does something violent because of some personal, anti-social issues is just some criminal nut unless he/she pees in some big-time corporate Wheaties. Now class, since it’s almost April; was Guy Fawkes a terrorist?
One more point: If an environmentalist were to fly a plane into a building, that would be terrorism—as in “eco-terrorism.”
Even though they are not civilians, an attack on U.S. military forces either at home or abroad is called terrorism. The same is true of an attack on the CIA, a terrorist organization. In addition, governments cannot be terrorists, although they can be state sponsors of terrorism. The U.S. and Israel cannot even be state sponsors of terrorism. It all gets pretty strange.
So are you asserting donho1965, that “conservative = capitalist =
how come one crazy person snaps and the media is all over it, but 20,000 non-psychotics kill people with guns every year, and that gets ignored? why is the narrative connecting violent outburst with mental illness so important to the media?
The american government is willing to pay any cost in order to maintain its monopoly on international organized terrorism. However, I would argue that such a monopoly is anti-capitalist. Why don’t we just allow all terrorist groups to compete at killing civilians on an equal footing? While we’re at it, let’s allow competing currencies and stop banning the competition between police, legislative, and judicial systems.
